Policies

As a community, we strive to create an environment that is supportive and respectful for all residents and staff. The policies in place play a critical role to ensure this goal is achieved. These policies, set out expectations and guidelines that govern our behaviour and interactions within the hall. This knowledge empowers us to navigate the community with a sense of responsibility and respect towards one another. It allows all parties to actively contribute to the development of a harmonious living environment, where everyone feels safe and valued. Reading and adhering to these policies demonstrates a commitment to maintaining a positive community spirit, while fostering a sense of belonging and mutual respect.

Please take the time to read through Rochester and Rutherford Hall’s policies below.

Our Values

Our Policy documents reflect both our core values and practice within the New Zealand framework of Law, including the NZ Code of Pastoral Care.

Community - We are strategic in how we approach our daily interactions with each other. We want to ensure that our procedures for operation are open, honest, and transparent.

Respect - We want everyone to develop a deeper understanding for self.  Respect for self will empower a smoother transition into new and meaningful connections with others and allow authentic personal growth.

Balance - We aim to establish daily routines and events that enable a constructive model for keeping a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.

Support - We create pathways for support which model a logical and beneficial way forward in all aspects of community learning and living.

Opportunities - There are many opportunities that exist to enrich the student lifestyle and open new ways of thinking, living, and growing.  We accept responsibility for planning an environment that promotes accountability around decisions associated with independence.
